The Urban Icon images start with my selection of places that are readily recognizable as important elements or design icons that define the city or neighborhoods. These images are my abstract responses to various environments using a digital camera, and further digitally altering the color and the positive/negative light and spatial relationships to create a new experience of that space or object. The images become brilliant paintings of light and color, pushing the senses and the media beyond reality. Many of the Urban Icon images retain a recognizable and clear delineation of the original object. Others, that I've gathered in my Urban Improv Portfolio,reflect more my total experience of the space, whether walking, driving, or zooming during exposure. These movements push forward a time element that excites the stolid 3-D objects.
